Lake Garda on one side, the mountains on the other side: Arco is located in the heart of the Northern Lake Garda region. It is a well-known holiday resort and outdoor sports destination with its mild climate, clean and healthy air.
Archduke Albert of Habsburg built his winter residence in Arco, the Villa Arciducale. Surrounded by an emerald green lush park, the Arboretum hosts exotic and Mediterranean plants. The Habsburgs enriched the location with parks and gardens, elegant liberty villas and beautiful palaces. The Castle of Arco, one of the most beautiful medieval fortresses in the Alps, was built by the Counts of Arco at the top of a rock overlooking the Sarca river and offering a breathtaking panorama.
Arco has became the climbing‘s world capital and every year hosts the Rock Master, the international rock climbing competition attracting athletes from all the world. This area is also appreciated by MTB lovers and hikers. A bike path brings cyclist directly to Lido di Arco, a beach area with free facilities between Riva del Garda and Torbole with a sailing and windsurfing center.
Arco is also famous for its Carnival, now to its 141th edition, and its carnival floats’ parade which also takes place in summer.
