After three entertaining days with the group phase, whose verdicts remained uncertain until the very end, it’s in-or-out time at 48th Trofeo Beppe Viola. On Sunday March 10th on the Via Pomerio pitch in Arco, the semifinals will determine the two protagonists of Tuesday March 12th final, live on Italian Raisport. All the matches will be aired live on the PMG Sport platform and on the official website: www.beppeviola-arco.it.
Atalanta and Parma will open the day’s programme at 13.00: the former was a top favorite for the final crown, the latter is arguably the biggest surprise of this final four, expression of a youth sector reconstructed after Parma’s bankrupt in 2015, yet already bosting some very interesting prospects. Odds should go in the direction of Atalanta, winner in Arco in 2016 and 2017, and coming off three victories in as many games in Group A, but surprises can’t be ruled out.
It should be an even game between Milan and Chievo (15.15), that claimed their semifinals passes in much different fashion: Chievo destroyed Roma 4-1, ending their Group D with full points and only one goal taken, Milan took a last-gasp 2-1 victory versus Lazio, thanks to Capone’s goal in the injury time. Yesterday the two clubs have already faced twice: in the Serie A championship – 2-1 the score for Milan – and in the Youth “Primavera” championship, with Chievo coming back from 3-0 to a 3-3 draw. This time, a winner is certain to come out.
Part of the day’s programme are also the semifinals of Junior Women’s Città di Arco Tournament – Pinerolo-Napoli (in Varone-Riva del Garda) and San Marino-Vittorio Veneto (in Arco-Romarzollo), and the final triangular of the “Pulcini” tournament, featuring Baldo Junior Team, Calisio and the home USD Arco team.
